The Tarrytown House Estate Area
The Tarrytown area is famous for its historic mansions and estates. Home to four generations of the Rockefeller family, Kykuit includes a landscape of extensive stone terraces, formal gardens, and glorious fountains. Lyndhurst was designed by Alexander Jackson Davis in the Gothic Revival style on 67 acres. Sunnyside is the meticulously restored picturesque home of author Washington Irving. Frederich Church designed nearby Olana along the lines of a Moorish Villa in 1870. Other activities include river cruises, a wide variety of excellent restaurants and shops, and top-notch mountain biking, hiking and cross-country skiing. |
