A favorite haunt for locals, guests at Red Hat on the River in Irvington can expect a warm welcome by proprietors Mary Beth Dooley and Jim Parker, and a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere. The former site of the Lord and Burnham Company, noted American greenhouse manufacturers and builders of major public conservatories, Red Hat is now an informal restaurant with cozy tables, twinkling candlelight, and vivid, painted portraits.

Menu choices range from grilled shrimp and fresh salads to seafood, pasta, steak and sandwiches. Red Hat's desserts are legendary.
