Irvington, New York
Irvington was renamed in honor of its beloved citizen, Washington Irving, author of "The
Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip Van Winkle," whose nearby residence, "Sunnyside," is open for
visitors. Magnificent views of the Hudson River, combined with a small-town flavor and easy access
to Manhattan, make Irvington a great quick escape destination.
Red Hat on the River is ideally located for lunch or dinner after a day of exploration. Favorite
sites include Washington Irving's Sunnyside, Lyndhurst, Philipsburg Manor, Kykuit, the Irvington
Town Hall Theatre (an exact replica of the Ford Theatre in Washington, D.C.), Tarrytown Music
Hall, and The Hudson River Museum.
