Your hosts Giancarlo (raised on the wonderful cuisine of Italy's Emilia-Romagna) and
Lorraine (who spent years as an editor at Gourmet magazine) prepare an excellent, multicourse
breakfast and afternoon tea. Breakfasts typically include seasonal fruits, such as berry gratin or
cider-poached pears; fresh herb omelets and cream scones or a light challah bread pudding with
caramel whiskey sauce; and Giancarlo's own blend of coffee or a selection of fine teas. The dining
room, furnished with an 18th-century table, is lit by a Florentine chandelier. In fine weather,
breakfast and tea are often served outdoors in the gardens.
On Fridays, a 3-course, prix-fixe dinner, with aperitif and digestif, can be arranged. Menus are
based upon fresh, seasonal foods and the culinary inspiration of your hosts, who can also
recommend local restaurants if you prefer.
